PROJECT SUMMARY
Operations Management International, Inc. (OMI) began its relationship with the City of Grants in November 1988. In April 2000, OMI's scope of work was expanded to include Parks & Grounds maintenance. In February 2001, the City started a new 8-year agreement with OMI for all three scopes of services. The latest accomplishments in the parks maintenance have proven to be a success:

  • Originality: OMI and the City used management systems for water and wastewater operations to improve the City's park operations.
  • Implementation: The City developed a "Punch List" of hot button items for the Council and City Administration. Then during brainstorming sessions, identified the best approach to each of the problems. Everything on the original list has been completed. Then pictures were taken of before and after shots of all the items OMI was to fix, and when shown to the Council members, the level of satisfaction was high. Everyone in the Parks & Recreation Department of the City was involved with the OMI team.
  • Economics: OMI is providing a higher quality service at the same cost the City was paying before. The City's cost proposal in 2001 was virtually the same as the 2000 City budget.

Some of the improvements OMI has made to beautify the City of Grants included remodeling the abandoned fire station for new parks office, replacing 375 bad sprinkler heads in local parks, installing new wind screens at the softball fields, repairing and repainting concession stands and improving the appearance and safety of the youth football field.
