WASHINGTON, DC, August 26, 2002 -
Each year the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP) recognizes companies and organizations that have successfully completed a unique and innovative public-private partnership. This prestigious award recognizes projects and individuals, illustrating some of the best practices and applications in the field of public-private partnerships.

NCPPP received more nominations this year than it has received in nearly a decade, making the awards process very competitive. The most innovative and original nominations were awarded the 2002 Public-Private Partnership Awards. The 2002 NCPPP Project Award recipients are:
  • Operations Management International, Inc. (OMI) and City of Hinesville, GA for City of Hinesville, GA
  • ECO Resources, Inc. and City of Sugar Land, TX for South Zone Water Utility System
  • The Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council and Fort Bend County and Cities for their Geographic Information System
  • LCOR, Inc. and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for International Air Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy Airport
  • Management Analysis, Inc. and U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command for TRADOC Command-Wide A-76 Study of Directorate of Public Works and Directorate of Logistics
  • USFilter Operating Services and City of Sioux City, IA for USFilter and Sioux City, Iowa, Wastewater Partnership
  • Pennsylvania - American Water Company and City of Coatesville and the City of Coatesville Authority for PAWC's Purchase of the City of Coatesville Authority's Water and Wastewater Assets
  • OpTech, Inc. and City of Gulfport, MS for Public Works Partnership with the City of Gulfport, MS
Because of the value these projects provide, each will shortly be added to the NCPPP's Web site listing of case studies.

In addition to the Project Award, NCPPP will present one Leadership Award to Senator Walter Stosch of Virginia for his proven influence in advancing the principals of public-private partnerships in the statutes of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Awards Committee consisted of Ken Butler (CAPITAL PARTNERSHIPS, Inc.), Edward DeBee (DeBee Gilchrist & Lidia), Robert Hebert, ECO Resources, Inc.), Don Levine (USFilter), David Seader (David Seader Associates), Steven Savas (Baruch College/CUNY), and John Stainback (Stainback Public/Private Real Estate). The Committee met on August 22 to discuss the nominations and determine the recipients.

The presentation for both awards will be made at the Awards Banquet at NCPPP's 15th Annual Conference on September 26 at the Omni Houston Hotel in Houston, TX.
